Understanding the Context of Our Lives

JOE: Good evening, Calliope.
CALLIOPE: Good evening, Joe. To what do we honor the above title?
JOE: I started on my outline for the marriage book. In the meantime, I have been doing a fair amount of reading.
CALLIOPE: Such as?
JOE: Haiker Gortenlaker’s b0ok, Eva Braun about her life and times with Hitler and Abigail Tarttelin’s novel, Golden Boy about an intersex boy and his struggles to find self acceptance.
CALLIOPE: And the title?
JOE: I got to thinking that everyone has a context in which they live, for better or worse. Hence the title.
CALLIOPE: Will I get to see it.
JOE: It comes out in my newsletter this Saturday. I will let you know when it is available.
CALLIOPE: I’m glad you are keeping busy and learning something.
JOE: Always!

JOE: Good morning Calliope.
CALLIOPE: Good morning Joe. What’s new in your writing world?
JOE: I published my latest newsletter on Saturday, called Choosing Power or Strength which has to do with whether we try to work together or force our own way in life.  It is available on my website at www.slidingotter.com under Sliding Otter News.
CALLIOPE: I’ll take a look. How about the book?
JOE: I am continuing with my research. I think I can go on forever with research on marriage and never write a word. That’s not very productive. I have been working on an outline for the book with selected topics. When I am satisfied, I will start actually writing and add more research as necessary.  At least that way I will be producing something besides reading.
CALLIOPE: Sounds like a good plan. Keep me posted.
JOE: I will. I have been enjoying the reading but now it’s time to put virtual pen to virtual paper, unless of course I decide to do it the old fashioned way.
CALLIOPE: I have heard pros and cons of both approaches.
JOE: So have I. But I remember one manuscript which the wind edited, blowing one page down through an inaccessible slot in my front porch and several others I had to chase down the street. Oh, well.

JOE: Good afternoon, Calliope.
CALLIOPE: Good afternoon, Joe. You were on a roll. What became of you?
JOE: I flew the coop. Actually I took a few days to visit friends in Manchester, CT and in Cape Cod. I am back now and working on my book. Today I am working on my column/newsletter for this Saturday.
CALLIOPE: Busy, busy, busy. What is your column about?
JOE: I don’t have the title worked out yet but the topic is power and strength in people.
CALLIOPE: Sounds intriguing.
JOE: It is. I have been reading about it in Conversations with God by Neale Walsch. It seems to be a rather complicated topic although I am working on making sense of it.
CALLIOPE: Good luck.
JOE: I will keep you informed.
