JOE: Good afternoon, Calliope.
CALLIOPE: Good afternoon, Joe. It’s summer. Don’t tell me you are hibernating!
JOE: No. I’m busier than ever. The last two weeks have been crammed with activities including illnesses, deaths, marriages, hosting guests, a reading marathon and social activity of various sorts.
CALLIOPE: In other words writing took a back seat.
JOE: Unfortunately so. Now there is a lull in the action and I am back to work.
CALLIOPE: With what results?
JOE: I finished working on the outline for my book on marriage. I also wrote most of the Foreword. The outline is tentative but at least I now have a road map. I realize that a Foreword should probably be written last once I know what I am introducing.
CALLIOPE: So why did you write it first?
JOE: I needed to start some place. It gave me a place to start and a direction in which to head.
CALLIOPE: So you are off and running?
JOE: I am and I feel excited about finally having some text before me. I realize it will be quite a trek but at least I have the first few steps behind me and am looking forward to the journey.
